The Eagles hit over 50 percent from the field to secure a 81-78 win against Sul Ross State University to open conference play. The Eagles used balanced scoring and an outstanding shooting night to upend the Lobos. Four of the Eagles' starters reached double figures in scoring and another scored double figures off the bench. Tylan Jackson led the way with 17 points. In the game, the Eagles made 31-of-56 (55%) from the floor, including 12-of-26 (46%) from the three-point line. The Eagles led 43-35 at halftime and then never let go of the lead in the second half. The Lobos did cut it to 52-51 at the 12:42 mark of the second half and again trailed by one point just under one minute later, but the Eagles bounced back to keep the lead. Jackson poured in 12 points in the first half.
