CITY OF BERRYVILLE: BCC wishlist

As we gear up for Thanksgiving and reflect on our blessings (and grocery lists), many of us are also eyeing the next holiday and asking our loved ones:

"What do YOU want this year? Make me a list."

We're nothing if not accommodating, so we thought we'd give you a chance to see the BCC wishlist! Here are two things near the top of our list:

1) We wish YOU would bless yourself or your friends, family, and loved ones with a BCC annual membership this year.

It costs MUCH less than paying by the visit, and gives everyone a place to have safe, healthy, climate-controlled fun and exercise all throughout the year. A family membership is just $10 per month when purchased annually- 1/3 the monthly rate when purchased month-by-month! (Senior rates are even lower.)

How convenient would it be to always be able to stop by the BCC for a workout, a game of pool, an exercise class, a kid playdate on the new PlasmaCars or in the swimming pool, or a place to walk that's dry and warm? Do you know someone who needs options like this? What a great gift to give!

2) We wish you would become a BCC volunteer or help us find volunteers.

The BCC is run with a combination of paid employees (very few) and volunteers that help us greet our members and keep order within the building. We depend DEEPLY on our volunteers, but since the COVID shutdown, we lost a lot of these critical helpers and would love to add more to our ranks.

ALSO: Many people don't realize that our volunteers earn a day pass for each hour that they volunteer. **If the membership fees are too much for you right now, consider volunteering for a 4-hour shift each week-- you'll earn 4 passes each shift to bring yourself or those you love to the center!**

(ALSO: We get a lot of queries about how you can get a job here, and the truth is that when shifts open up, we often hire from our volunteer ranks because they are already familiar with our computer system, the building, and our staff. If you want to be part of the team that makes it all happen, volunteering is a great way to start!)

Most of all, volunteering to help your community is a meaningful way to fill your time and enhance your own sense of purpose and well-being. We'll work with your schedule and train you, and we can't wait to get to know you... just contact our office manager, Alex, and he'll tell you how to get started.

That's enough of our wishes for now... more to come! Happy Turkey Prep Days, ya'll. Remember to thaw that bird early!
