Huntsville issued the following announcement on May 10.
Please join us in congratulating Steven McGourty and Gabe Dasen in making history tonight as we introduced them as the first two career firefighters for the City of Huntsville.
Our department has historically been an all-volunteer organization but because most of our members work in Washington and Benton Counties, there have been times during the
workdays when our community has had little or no fire protection. These two men will help alleviate that problem.
