BOONE COUNTY – AR: Candidate Filing Begins

Boone County – AR recently issued the following announcement.

Elections

Feb 22, 2022 – Mar 01, 2022

ny candidate wishing to run for office on the County level or School Board Level will have a Candidate filing period for the May 24, 2022 election. It will begin on Tuesday February 22nd at noon and will end on Tuesday March 1st at noon. All filing will take place at the Boone County Election Center located at 414 W. Central in Harrison.

County Level candidates are as follows: County Judge, County Sheriff, County Clerk, Circuit Clerk, Treasurer, Assessor, Collector and Coroner, Justice of Peace Districts 1 through 11, City Constable, North Boone Constable and South Boone Constable.

School Board level candidates are as follows: Bergman, Omaha and Valley Spring Districts will each have 1 seat up for election each. You only file by Option 2, see below.

For School Districts Alpena, Harrison and Lead Hill, check back often for new information being as these school district will have to Zone their district for the first time.

You will have 2 options to file for office.

Option 1: is to file as a "Party" Candidate. In order to do this, you must join your party of choice and pay their committee fee. Then you will file under that party and will have a party filling fee that is set by the party and is based on the office you choose to run for.

Option 2: You can file as Independent. To file as Independent, you will be required to circulate a petition to gather signatures. The office of choice will determine the number of signatures required. You will need to contact the Boone County Election Center to obtain signature requirements and the date you may begin collecting signatures.

Any Candidate who wishes to run for office on a Federal/State Level will need to contact the Arkansas Secretary of State's office to get details on your requirements (this includes signature requirements for each state level office as an Independent). You will also file at the State Capitol.

Federal level candidates are as follows: U.S. Senate, U.S. Congress

State level candidates are as follows: Governor, Lt. Governor, Secretary of State, Attorney General, Treasurer, Auditor, Commissioner of Lands, St. Senate District , St. Rep Districts.

Any person who wishes to run for office on a Municipal level, will need to pick up a petition for nomation starting May 12, 2022 at the election center in Harrison during office hours of Monday to Friday 8:30am to 5:30pm.
