St. John the Evangelist Church – Huntsville issued the following announcement on Jan. 11.

Did you know that over 38 million people live in poverty in the United States? In Arkansas, about 500,000 are poor. About 24 percent of these are children. January is the Month of Poverty Awareness and the Catholic Campaign for Human Development (CCHD, in its centuries) offers a calendar and daily reflections to help us observe the month assuming “the challenge of Pope Francis to live” in solidarity with the poor."
