THE BASIC
Brownwood, Texas-The Eagles gave up 50 points in the second half to drop their American Southwest Conference opener 85-52 Thursday against Howard Payne University. The Eagles trailed 35-26 at halftime, but got outscored 50-26 in the second half. Howard Payne forced the Eagles into 25 turnovers in the game. The Eagles were limited to a 28 percent shooting clip in the game. Stevie Perkins had a strong game inside scoring 13 points and pulling down nine rebounds. Howard Payne scored 30 points off the Eagles' turnovers.
