Harrison High School Conversion Charter issued the following announcement on Aug. 12.
Scholarships for community service is a great thing to receive.
The Arkansas Activities Association selected 10 Arkansas high school seniors to receive the award.
Four of those students are Heart of the Ozark graduates.
Harrison’s Noah Moix and Yellville-Summit’s Holiday Derosier were two of the five boys selected for the honor.
Valley Springs’ Maura Moore and Berryville’s Lauren Compton were two of the five girls that received the honor.
Each of the 10 total athletes honored received a $1,000 scholarship.
The scholarships were awarded by Centennial Bank.
To receive the awards, the student athletes had to excel in the classroom and athletically.
There were 425 Arkansas athletes that applied for the scholarship.
Compton graduated from Berryville with a 3.9 GPA. Moore completed her high school career with a 4.1 GPA.
Derosier finished with a 4.1 and Moix had a 4.2 GPA. Derosier had a 31 ACT score and Moix had a 30.
Derosier, Compton and Moix all plan to attend the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville. Moore will be attending Crowder College in Neosho, Mo.
The other student athletes to receive the awards included: Lauren Dewey, Mountain Home; Alison Looney, Parkers Chapel; Katrina Tarno, Tuckerman; Charlest Davis, Jessieville; Elijah Rich, Lincoln; and Payten Tompkins, Parkers Chapel.
