UNIVERSITY OF THE OZARKS ATHLETICS: Turpin Receives NABC Academic Honors

Medal

University of the Ozarks Athletics issued the following announcement on July 27.

The National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) announced the 2020-21 NABC Honors Court, recognizing men's collegiate basketball student-athletes in all NCAA divisions and the NAIA, who excelled in academics during the past season. The NABC Honors Court highlights the talents and gifts that these men possess on the court and the hard work they exhibit in the classroom.

Senior forward Tim Turpin received the honor from the NABC. Turpin, a native of Cypress, Texas, graduated with a degree in business administration. Turpin not only shined in the classroom, but also the court as the Eagles won the 2020-21 conference championship.

"This is a wonderful way to cap his career here," said head coach Travis Carruthers. "Being on the NABC Honors Court is a great accomplishment. And to be able to earn this honor and win a conference championship in the same season is special for him."

In order to be named to the Honors Court, a student-athlete must meet a high standard of academic criteria, including a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.2 or higher at the conclusion of the 2020-21 academic year. Additionally, student-athletes must have matriculated at least one year at their current institution and they must academically be a junior or senior and a varsity player.
