University of the Ozarks Athletics issued the following announcement on July 22.
Justin Rodriguez has been hired as the new assistant women's soccer coach at University of the Ozarks, it was announced by the athletic department today.
Rodriguez, of Alice, Texas, was a member of the Schreiner University men's soccer team from 2017-2021. He served as team captain during his career as a Mountaineer, and was a member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and Mountaineer Leadership Academy.
"I am excited to welcome Coach Justin Rodriguez to our staff," said head coach Natalie Dreyer. "He is very eager to begin his coaching career at the collegiate level and knows what it takes to be competitive in NCAA Division III. With his club and high school connections in South Texas, he will be able to open up another area of recruiting grounds for our program. His experience with training goalkeepers and field players at the team and individual level will bring a wealth of new ideas to our program."
Rodriguez played in 35 matches at Schreiner while earning a spot on the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Academic Honor Roll. He was the goalkeeper coach at Alice High School in 2018 and 2019. Additionally, he has provided private lessons to youth and teams in the Kerrville area since 2014.
"It is an honor to be welcomed by University of the Ozarks, Coach Dreyer and the women's soccer program," said Rodriguez. "I also want to thank Athletic Director Jimmy Clark for allowing me to start my collegiate coaching career at Ozarks. My mission is to assist Coach Dreyer in moving this program forward and climbing to new heights. I'm excited to get settled in and meet everyone within the athletics program and on the team. I can't wait to get started."
Rodriguez received his bachelor's degree in sport management from Schreiner in 2021. He is a graduate of Alice High School.
